About Us

Over the past 24 years Mirror Images has been thrilled to create wonderful moments and memories on and off the ice with hundreds of skaters. Since beginning in 2001 with 13 members on a Teen Introductory team, Mirror Images has grown and continued to evolve with the sport of synchronized skating. Through 2014, MI focused on advancing the skills of youth skaters offering a variety of levels and teams. In 2015, MI expanded to offer area college skaters the opportunity to keep skating as they pursued their studies. In 2016, MI expanded again with the Open Masters division for adult skaters. In 2019, MI offered a second competitive adult level and made their first trip to Nationals with a Collegiate team. MI also attended Nationals with the adult team in 2022.

Our season starts in late August and winds up in March. Each team has assigned practice times on the ice at various rinks in Rochester and many of the teams have off-ice practices once or twice a month. Depending on team level, the skaters participate in physical workouts, yoga, and ballet.  In our off season, skaters practice skills to improve their training.  Our goal is that every skater has a place, whether they are a beginner or experienced, young or old.  Our skaters are able to grow with our program and transition onto elite level teams when they choose based on the skills they develop.

Team Building

Whether it's team specific activities or MI wide, our skaters like to have fun together on and off the ice - we truly have a family feel. Some of our favorite activities include rafting,  the annual picnic/BBQ, and the camp out. We especially love spirit days and the chance to dress up.

Empowering Athletes

We believe that synchronized skating promotes strong individuals both on and off the ice.  We develop lifelong skills and friendships from our time together. We learn to lift each other up - literally - and support one another through thick and thin. We share common goals, we work together, and we keep things positive. While we work hard, we also know have to have fun!

Giving Back

Mirror Images skaters like to give back to the community and are always looking for ways to be involved. We regularly participate in local Amerk's games for the holidays and Breast Cancer awareness; we support various walks for Pancreatic and Breast cancer, do area clean-ups, fall leaf raking, and support families during the holidays. Many of our skaters work with the local adaptive skating program as well.
