Do you like to figure skate? Come check out one of the fastest growing sports – synchronized skating – with the Mirror Images teams based out of the Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club in Fairport, NY. Synchronized skating involves 8-20 skaters performing a program set to music together. It is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate shapes and formations, and step sequences. It is a great way to stay fit and active while learning new skating skills, it is a lifelong sport. The Mirror Images teams are looking for skaters who are working on US Figure Skating Basic 4 and above to field Beginner through Collegiate level teams. You are welcome to attend our free open houses where you will skate with current team members and learn more about this exciting sport. Open houses will be held at the following locations:
March 29th at the Webster Ice Arena (865 Publishers Pkwy, Webster, NY 14580) 4:00-5:00pm
April 7th at the Thomas Creek Ice Arena (80 Lyndon Rd, Fairport, NY 14450) 6:00-7:00pm
April 12th at the Paul Louis Arena (1 Boys Club Place, Rochester, NY 14608) 4:30-5:30pm
Skaters are encouraged to arrive early which allows time to get ready before the start of the session. If possible, skaters should bring their own skates and comfortable skating attire. Skaters will participate in drills and formations with current members as well as watch a competitive routine. Tryouts for the 2015-2016 season will be held at Thomas Creek Ice Arena on April from 6:00-8:00pm. There is a non-refundable fee to tryout.
Both Mirror Images teams competed at the 2014 US Figure Skating Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Champions held in Hershey, PA from January 27th-February 1st. This was the largest event ever with 156 teams at different levels and ages. Teams from Maine to South Carolina participate in the championships with certain levels advancing to Nationals. Pre-Juvenile and Open-Juvenile had the largest turnout with 28 teams in each division.
The Open-Juvenile team won their qualifying round and in the finals finished 2nd to win the Silver medal. The Pre-Juvenile team started off strong and finished 2nd in their qualifying round. In the final round they finished 9th.
This marks three years in a row that the Mirror Images Open-Juvenile team has medaled at Eastern Sectionals. Congratulations ladies!
Congratulations to the Open-Juvenile team for winning their flight at the 30th Annual Colonial Classic. The competition was held in Lowell, MA at the Tsongas Arena from January 10th-12th. The Pre-Juvenile team finished in 6th in a tough competition but were pleased with their improved speed and expression.
The Mirror Images teams attended their first travel event of the season in Bourne, MA. This was the first event for the Eastern Challenge Series. This was the Open-Juvenile teams first competition. The team finished in 4th out of 9 teams, winning the Pewter medal. The Pre-Juvenile team finished in 5th out of 10 teams.
The Pre-Juvenile rocked the Skaneateles Invitational December 6th, 2013. They debuted their fantastic Rock-n-Roll Mashup program for the judges and crowd. The Pre-Juvenile team finished in first and were excited to hear the judge's feedback. Congratulations team! The Open-Juvenile team also performed an exhibition as there were no other teams to compete against. Both teams are hard at work preparing for their next event.
